A Chain Reaction for Robe Robe Lighting is the final answer for Italian game show

Massimo Castrichella, one of the most knowledgeable and experienced practitioners in the art of TV lighting, has designed the lighting for popular Italian game show "Reazione A Catena" (Chain Reaction). Over 90 Robe moving lights, including the new ROBIN 600 LEDWash, are the core lighting fixtures being used to illuminate the completely spherical auditorium from which the show is filmed. The studio walls are white, therefore ideal for colouration and gobo projections, and there is a series of curved ribbon-like LED surfaces threaded around the space. The lighting is rigged on three circular overhead trusses measuring 5, 10 and 15 metres respectively, and on about 90 metres of linear truss also in the roof, which makes a versatile hanging framework. The rig includes 40 LEDWash 600s - a first

time use for Castrichella - along with 18x ROBIN 600 Beams which are positioned on the floor onstage behind the contestants, and utilised for very intense beam looks.

For general and task lighting, 36 Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs are hung at the back and around the sides of the studio. 4 Robe Haze 400 FT machines are also being used for atmospheric enhancement. In addition, there are some other moving lights and large areas of GLUX 10 and 6mm pitch LED screens.

Castrichella has been using Robe lighting

products for around 7 years, and looks to Robe as his moving light brand of choice. He believes that the ROBIN 600 Beam is "the best beam luminaire" on the market at the moment. The LEDWash 600, which offers high intensity, quality of light, colour

range and smooth colour mixing as well as impressive zoom, has also impressed the lighting designer; "There is absolutely nothing like it".

Castrichella used the ColorWash 1200E on the show’s last series, and the replacement LEDWashes have proven a real success; “They draw about half the power, but give me almost the same light output". The LEDWashes are stationed on the rear trusses and point forward towards the stage, washing the back and sidewalls. Castrichella is also making the most of their great range of true whites to replace some of the conventional studio white lights.
