Enjoying excellence at St Margaret’s

AT ST MARGARET’S, visitors are always impressed by our warm sense of community, with its sense of purposefulness and enjoyment. We work hard and we have fun in doing so.

Our academic standards are

high, with exceptional ‘value- added’. Some pupils achieve dazzling results (some of the highest in the country). Most importantly, every single pupil aims for their personal best and is celebrated for reaching it. We were absolutely delighted with this year’s results – with some resounding successes and phenomenal value-added: 73 per cent of all results showed at least one grade’s worth of added value. In two cases it was 4 grades above - this is something very rarely achieved nationally. The overall pass rate of 100 per cent saw the Sixth Form girls well-launched to a wide range of destinations, reflecting the diversity of their interests.

Headmistress, Mrs Sheila

Cooper comments: ‘Girls’ and teachers’ subjects,

passion for their their talents and

dedicated hard work have brought some stunning, well-deserved results once again this year. I am enormously proud of them all.

This particular year-group has demonstrated some transformational leadership qualities at St Margaret’s. I know that universities and, later on, employers will benefit from having young people with such high-level personal skills.’ The friendliness, felt from the moment you walk through the door, is shown by the older pupils to the younger – and vice versa! It enables all pupils to aspire and to reach their aspirations. In the video of our latest Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Expedition to India – see the link on our website - the song, ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ sums up St Margaret’s and the humorous camaraderie and determination pictured are typical of students’ life here. We are extremely proud of our

wide range of extra-curricular activities. Our Music, Art, and Drama are second to none. The programme of outdoor activities, with our Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, sport, Ten Tors and CCF, is exceptional. These opportunities allow everyone to develop their talents, discover their strengths and grow in confidence. As a Christian school, looking after others is an important part of our life together. We are concerned to encourage individuals to achieve their very best so that they, in their turn, may make a difference to the world.
