Salem Exchange Club supports Area Pantry and Soup Kitchen
by Len Lathrop The Salem Exchange club is a vibrant group of local businesses and professional men and women who focus on child abuse prevention, youth programs, service to seniors and Americanism. During their weekly meeting
on Thursday, August 25, they presented checks to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen and the St. Thomas Aquinas Food pantry to support their on-going struggle to feed those in need. Cynthia Dwyer, Executive Director for Sonshine Soup Kitchen explained that since 1989 they provided meals five days a week

submitted by Beth Innarelli Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil held their Fourth Annual Blood Drive last month
at their Atkinson showroom. Thirty one people came together to do their part to help with the major blood shortage that is being reported across the country. The drive, which was held with the cooperation of the American Red Cross, was primarily attended by Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil employees and was supported by Friendly’s Restaurant who provided coupons for a free half-gallon of ice cream for each donor. “I am very proud of our employees for their participation in the blood

Charitable Foundation, BJ’s supports and enhances programs that provide vital services within each community. We focus primarily on children and families with the goal of creating a positive, long-lasting impact. “BJ’s is continually growing its community outreach programs, developing new and innovative approaches to charitable giving in the hope that we will be able to reach more people and provide meaningful support that enriches the lives of those in need” said Danielle Salvetti, community relations specialist for BJ’s Wholesale Club. Due to recent federal
government school budget cuts, BJ’s reached out to the Soule School and asked Principal Parrill to compile a “wish list” of items the school may need throughout the year that may not be covered by the school budget. In an effort to kick the school year off fully stocked BJ’s donated items from Clorox Wipes to electric pencil sharpeners for the students and staff.
