fashion S
uffering from post-holiday blues, tan’s fading and the wardrobe looks so last season. Think fashion may have taken a back seat – you wont after seeing
what fashion retailers have to offer - we can look forward to autumn in style. This season there’s a revival of a tailored look in both men and women’s fashion but it is now updated to have splashes of colours here and there to make it a conservative yet fun look. The classic monochrome look is making a comeback through shift dresses, tailored shirts and shorts. The basic palette is to be worn as an understated yet show stopping combo, topped off with a splash of red lipstick. The 60s inspired look has been updated with a mixture of fabrics, such as leather shorts or suede panels on mini skirts. Features such as Peter Pan collars can complete this look to give it a prim and polished finish to it; equally accessories such as patterned tights or a fringed bag gives it an edge. If you are one for a burst of bright
colours this season - look no further! Colours featured this season are a pop of purple, yellow and blue, which will brighten up those glum days. These colours look fantastic on accessories such as tights, bags and shoes and you will be surprised to how much of your wardrobe co-ordinates with these colours. And if you aren’t a fan of block colours then embellishment is always a safe and reliable option. Pencil, A-line and ‘midi’ skirts are huge this season; designers have created these skirts to be a staple item in your wardrobe. The reinvention of this classic skirt means that it is now a feature to your outfit, with variations in patterns, such as leopard print and fabrics like sheer material or lace; it can be accompanied with a plain top and platform heels and the beauty of these skirts are that they really go with just about anything in absolutely any colour! This season’s catwalk is all about the ‘Forties Glamour’ - think faux fur, pearls and high- waisted skirts, worn with gloves, floppy hats and kitch handbags to complete the look. We love this adorable outfit from Next, perfect for an autumn’s day. (Swing sweater, £30, Skater skirt, £35,
Wedge loafers (above), £40, Knit tights, £6, and Floppy hat, £24.) Next is located at Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way in Charlton, along with fashion retailers H&M, River Island, OUTFIT, New Look and Clarks. Whatever your choice this season you can guarantee your desired look will be found in the shops and what is so fabulous about this seasons fashions is that they are appropriate for just about any occasion, anywhere and any weather!
