business promotion CONTESTED PROBATE CLAIMS

Michael Clary, Partner and Head of Litigation at Greenwich Solicitors Grant Saw, considers the sensitive issue of contested probate claims.

I

t usually comes as an unwelcome surprise to families who are dealing with the administration of their loved ones estate to suddenly find that they are faced with a claim being made against that estate. If either a spouse, former spouse, civil partner, children, step-children or

in fact any person who was being maintained by the deceased immediately prior to death believes that unreasonable financial provision was left for them, they may be entitled to claim against the deceased’s estate. There are however strict time limits on making a claim, this being six months from the grant issued to deal with the deceased’s estate. Grant Saw Solicitors LLP assist families faced with such a claim made

against the estate as well as acting for persons wishing to make a claim against an estate. In both cases it is imperative that matters are dealt with sensitively and by experienced practitioners.
