ith growing participation in MAC’s Triathlon/Running Committee,

athletes made strong appearances at summer competitions. After months of preparation, the summer racing season kicked off with the Blue Lake Triathlon in June. Under beautiful skies, close to 30 MAC members competed in events over the two days of competition. Members debuted their new racing kits and had a strong showing with 11 people earning medals in the sprint and Olympic distances. “We all looked good in our MAC racing kits and it was a great showing for our triath- letes,” says member Coach Bridget Dawson. Later in June, more than 25 MAC
members competed across five events during the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival. Ten MAC members placed in their age group and committee chair Annie Usher came in first overall for women and placed in the top 10 of overall results. “Seeing all of the MAC members out at the start of the duathlon was great – it creates a feeling of camara- derie and team support,” Usher said.
MAC triathletes continued their strong performances through Hagg Lake Triathlon in July. Notably, 82-year old Larry Brown competed in the triathlon and won his age group. Larry’s commitment to training and competing is an inspiration to everyone on the committee.
Up Next The Triathlon/Running Committee
hosts the annual Pittock fun run on Tuesday, Sept. 13. This is an eight-mile loop on the trails and a great workout for those who are training for fall races. Alternative shorter options are available for those who want to drive to the top of Pittock and enjoy the downhill terrain. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Turnaround and bring friends and family.
