oin fellow MAC members for an exciting and unique First Thursday event featuring studio potter Patrick Horsley. Set aside Thursday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 p.m. to meet the artist, view his work and have the opportunity to purchase one or more of his special pieces. Horsley’s work is strongly influenced by architecture, both primitive and contem- porary (i.e. the home, the temple and the skyscraper). All of his work is stoneware, fired to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit in a reduction-fired kiln. Most of his work is decorative as opposed to utilitarian, and involves platters and plates for two-dimen- sional exploration. It also involves bowls and vessels for exploring three-dimen- sional ideas. Teapots, a special interest of his, have evolved into signature pieces, which are included in many collections throughout the world.

Studio Potter Brings Influential Work to MAC J

His work has been included in count- less invitational exhibitions, one-person shows, and international juried competi- tions. He has been featured in workshops across North America. Horsley’s contri- bution to American craft has resulted in numerous awards, including the pres- tigious National Endowment for the Arts Grant. Look for Horsley’s work on display in the lobby trophy cases during the month of September. All of his work is reasonably priced (less than $350 for this event) and available for purchase at the First Thursday reception in the Reading Lounge. For more information on Patrick’s work, visit his website at http://www. patrickhorsley.com or call Member Services at 503-517-7265. WM
