Row, row, row your boat

Eight employees from local law firm, Tees Solicitors are preparing for a marathon sponsored row in aid of Headway Cambridgeshire, the charity that works to

improve life after brain injury.

Janine Collier, David Gabell, Cathy Izzard, Orla Lawlor, Ben Millard, David Miller, Ruth Muckian and Paul Taylor are taking part in a sponsored row from Cambridge to Ely on 3rd September 2011.

The employees, who have little or no previous rowing experience, will attempt to navigate the 21km stretch of river and two locks in a sweep oar eight to raise funds for Headway Cambridgeshire for the benefit of people with brain injury, their families and carers.

The crew aim to set off at 09:30 from the Cambridge 99s Rowing Club, Kimberley Road and hope to arrive in Ely early/ mid-afternoon.

Janine Collier, Associate at Tees said “As specialist brain injury lawyers we see the devastating effect that brain injuries can have on individuals and their families. The sponsored row seemed an excellent way to have some fun, whilst supporting a good cause at the same time. We are all really looking forward to it. We know it will be hard work, and we expect to end up blistered, bruised and wet, but we hope to raise a lot of money for a very good cause”.

At Mansell & Co we have always offered a free consultation for potential clients, whether a business start-up or an existing business.

During the meeting we will review the different business options, such as sole-trader, partnership and limited company. We can form limited companies within 24-48 hours and take care of all HM Revenue & Customs registration.

We can also advise you on record keeping, to help you monitor your business and make the accounts easier and so cheaper to prepare. We can help you decide whether it is necessary to purchase accounting software or appropriate to use spreadsheets and have standard spreadsheet templates that will make things easier.

We will discuss VAT registration and can provide you with advice on the special VAT schemes that may be relevant to you.

We can also advise on and help with payroll, carrying out PAYE calculations, preparing payslips and end-of-year forms.

If your business comes under HMRC’s Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) we can help with all aspects, including subcontractor verification, payment certificates and online monthly returns.

We take full advantage of all HMRC and Companies House online filing services, ensuring returns are filed efficiently and on time. We also monitor all deadlines for our clients to take away the worry of having to remember when returns are due and avoiding penalties.
