Little Scrummers Rugby is an exciting idea based on non contact rugby for boys and girls aged 2 years to 6 years, which encourages them to live a healthier life. It improves their gross motor skills, and their sporting ability by introducing them to sport at an earlier age, and also increases their confidence and self esteem.

It has a positive effect on communication, behavioural, and social skills. We love the children to be outdoors and use pitches as much as possible.

We currently run classes in • Chelmsford • South Woodham Ferrers • Stansted • Maldon

It’s Tough up North

The month started on a positive front as a new shirt sponsor was found, local business Chip & Pin Solutions now have their name proudly emblazoned on both home and away shirts. The league kicked off on August 13th and BSFC played hosts to Colwyn Bay FC, newly promoted to

the Blue Square Bet North. Things started well for the Blues with a few early chances but the visitors took the lead towards the end of the first half and doubled their lead just after the break. Next up was a midweek trip to Corby Town who had convincingly beaten FC Halifax the previous weekend, this fixture was Corby Town’s first competitive game at their new ground and they were obviously determined to give the home fans a game to remember as they handed out a 6-1 drubbing to the Blues.

The following weekend started early for the team with a Friday night coach trip to Northumberland, the second longest away trip that the Blues would be making this season. They started well against Blyth Spartans with Michael Bakare opening the scoring but the hosts took control and were eventual 3-1 winners leaving the Blues seated firmly at the bottom of the table with nil points. No one said the north was going to be easy and this was proving the case, by the time you read this the Blues will have played Solihull Moors, Nuneaton Town and Hinckley Utd, hopefully there will be some points on the board. In general the team have played some nice football and when they have taken control passing the ball around they have at least shown the

ability to get in on goal. As ever the team needs your support so do please try and get along to Woodside Park, an important date for your diaries is Non League Day, Saturday 3rd September. There are no Premier or Championship games on this day and it’s a chance to celebrate all that is good about non league football. The Blues are a special part of this event as there are 3 matches all kicking off at different times at Stortford, Chelmsford and Braintree and Blue Square Bet are laying on coaches so that fans can get to all 3 games. Also don’t forget that on Sunday 11th September there is a car boot sale at Woodside Park. Pitches are competitively priced with 100 pitches available and ample parking for the general public.
