/// FASHION STYLE NOTES

Talk trends and dress the part for the following four fashion friendly events.

Fashion’s Night Out Various Grand Rapids locations, including Rockford Sept. 8, 6-11 p.m.

FREE!

If this night had a theme song, it might be “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, according to Jim Murray, General Manager of A.K. Rikk’s. In a little gold lamé nutshell, the night celebrates fashion, boosts the industry’s economy and puts the fun back in shopping. This year, expect a weekend pop-up store at Richard App Gallery that will be “just as much about the art as it is the clothes.” Word to the wise: Murray thinks a FNO survival guide would “definetly include some sort of Starbucks gift card for caffeine and would know who the retail leader is in every section.” This evening, the little black dress makes way for the little white receipt.

Style Battle Intersection, Grand Rapids Sept. 29, 5:30 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 at the door stylebattlegr.com, (616) 676-7275

If you want to compare your- self with the likes of Victoria Beckham, then this is the event she would attend. “She’s got her finger on the pulse. She’s into style and wants to see what’s go- ing on in the streets,” says Tina Derusha, founder and chaos manager of Spotlight616. Expect vintage, resale, street savvy and high-end West Michigan magic in the form of clothing retailers, photographers, makeup artists, models and hairstylists. This action-packed beauty battle is a four-hour challenge to create five
