SINCID, Slovenia


The Slovenian National Committee (SINCID) elected new Office Bearers in April 2010 - Mrs. Stanka Koren as President, Prof. Dr. Brane Maticic as Secretary General as well as new Chairmen of ten working groups. A Conference on “SINCID’s contribution to food security in Slovenia by the optimal use of water” was organized on 4 November 2010 at Novo mesto to celebrate the 60th anniversary of ICID. In all ten papers were presented in the conference and was attended by more than 150 people. A brief overview SINCID’s activities were reported over the period of last 60 years with the main emphasize of assuring self sufficiency in food production in Slovenia by the optimal use of water in order to overcome the intensive loss of the best productive agricultural land due to urbanization in context of the realization of ‘National

THAICID, Thailand


The 5th THAICID National Symposium and 1st Thailand INWEPF Symposium were jointly held on 17 June 2010 in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand. The symposia were held under the theme of “Multiple Roles of Paddy Fields Related to Integrated Resources Management”. HE Theera Wongsamut, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Chalit Damrongsak, the Director General


of Royal Irrigation Department, were invited to the symposium. Dr. Shiratani, Head of Laboratory of Water Environment in National Institute for Rural Engineering, Japan delivered the keynote speech on “Sustainable Agriculture to Conserve Water and Environment in Japan”. Over 150 professionals from Universities and Research


institutes in Thailand participated in the symposium.
