here is a saying: “Do what you love, love what you do,” but you respond, “Sure, that’s good in theory,

but how can I apply it?” Usually, the lists of reasons why you can’t leave your current job begin to spill out and make you feel stuck. For some, there are some legiti- mate reasons why changing jobs right now is unpracti- cal, or impossible. Still, we can all find something that

brings us joy even if it’s only for one hour a week. I can hear you now…. “I don’t have enough time; I don’t have enough money….” If your knee-jerk response was “I don’t, I can’t” then perhaps you need to tap into your creativity a little more. We are all creative. Every time you make people laugh, cook a new recipe, paint a wall, that is a demonstration of creativity. But let’s go deeper. This issue of Natural Awakenings is about the importance of expressing

creativity: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Creativity decreases depression by releasing endorphins. As noted in our Healthy Kids article, Artful Kids on page 34 just singing a song or tapping out a rhythm with your hands has been shown through brain imaging to create synapses in all four parts of the brain. I have been in jobs where I felt unfulfilled, and yet (little by little) made the

changes needed to create a happier life. Stephanie and I have been blessed with helping each other find and grow our creativity as it keeps us stimulated and challenged. Bringing Natural Awakenings to Somerset, Middlesex, and Hunterdon Counties has been one of the greatest joys and biggest challenges of our lives; however, there is something new brewing for us on the horizon and our time as publishers has drawn to an end. Beginning in October we would like to introduce to you the new publisher, Alan Willsey. Alan has a life full of experiences that he will share with you, a great sense of humor, and a big heart. Please embrace him with love and kindness, just as you all did with us. We will be staying on board to help Alan transition, and Alan will be keeping

on our wonderful staff of writers, editors, and designers. We promise to keep you posted on our new endeavor as soon as we can. Our very good friend Frannie gave Stephanie a birthday present. It is a book

titled “I Wish For You,” by Lance Wubbels. It is filled with wonderful quotes, so our wish for you from the book is “I hope that you will always feel fearlessly FREE TO BE YOU!” A very special thank you to our readers and advertisers,

who have supported our growth over the past 3 years. It’s been an honor and privilege to bring Natural Awakenings to you each month. With love and gratitude,

Please visit us on FB Natural Awakenings Central NJ for the latest health updates and information, or to post your events or comments.
