Seven Weeks

One life. What’s it all about?

This autumn we will be offering ‘Christianity Explored’ a s our invitation course for those seeking to find out about the Christian faith. I have reviewed the course material and DVD presentations which are extremely well presented and I am confident will be well received and lead t o g o o d g r o u p discussions. ‘Christianity Explored’ is based on Mark’s gospel and is supported by an excellent website. One way of describing the course is ’using the gospel to share the gospel.’

Sharing our Faith

After running with Alpha for many years I think it is time to run with something fresh to reengage the whole church in the task of sharing our faith and inviting our friends to find out about Jesus for themselves. I still believe Alpha is a very useful tool for discipleship and evangelism but for us at this time it will be good to offer something different that is proving

Christianity Explored runs for seven weeks and follows a similar format to Alpha. The evening begins with a meal, moves onto a DVD presentation which is then fol lowed by discussion. The group members are then invited to read passages from Mark for next week with some guiding questions in their course book which are picked up at the beginning of

the

following week. We are planning for the course to start on October 11th and like the Alpha course there will be a Saturday away day in November.

Guest Events

In order to maximise the potential of the course we plan to organise some guest events and outreach activities in September that will have the purpose of directing p e o p l e t o w a r d s Christianity Explored. The first two Sundays in September will run under t h e h e a d i n g o f Christianity Explored and look at some of the questions that people are asking in our culture and end with inviting people to come and find out more on the CE course. We will have an invitation supper on October 4th, a week before the course starts and also an invitation

event for men. Prayer

Please be in prayer for us as we gather a team to help lead the new course and pray for us all to have the confidence to invite our friends along to one of the invitation Sundays or events in September. I thought the material was so good that I went straight into watching the second session having finished the first!

You maybe in the position of being able to organise an invitation event yourself through a coffee morning or the particular ministry, small group or fellowship group that you belong to. We would love to support you if this is the case, do let us know. If would like to know more about the course just Google Chr i s t iani ty Explored and you will be directed to their resources on the website and get a good feel for what is involved.

If you are having a break in August I pray that you will be refreshed and kept safe.
