“Thumbs down to the dog owners who do

not pick up after their dogs along the Litchfield bike/walking path. It would be a good idea for the town to have an ordinance where these pet owners would be fined if they do not pick up their dog. It’s no fun trying to dodge the piles while walking or on a bike. Quite disgusting as well.”

“Thumbs down to the Hudson Gang of Four, Selectmen Coutu, Jasper, Thaddeus and Nadeau. Raising our property taxes hundreds of dollars per year two years in a row was not enough for them, oh no! Now, they decided to hand out 10% raises to non-union town employees. What about all the unemployed and underemployed in our town, struggling to keep their homes? The Gang of Four couldn’t care less! Voter apathy got them re-elected last time and it will get them re-elected again… I say ENOUGH! Hudson, it’s time to get off our collective duffs, get to the polls next March, and THROW THESE BUMS OUT!!!”

“Thumbs down to the irresponsible dog owners at Benson’s Park. Although everyone has done a great job to the Park, the piles of dog poop everywhere make it very less desirable to go. It’s not fair to everyone putting in their hard work to make it a family place to go and now have to look everywhere so you don’t step in dog feces. ‘Thumbs down’ also to the man who told us to ‘look out’ as his unleashed dog came charging at us. People are going to ruin it for everyone else.”

“Thumbs down to the teenagers who were partying on a Friday night till the early morning and drinking! I could hear you partying and screaming all the way on Winnhaven Drive!! I’m a senior with a heart condition and It’s dangerous for me to be startled in the middle of the night. Especially by teenagers drinking, screaming and cars speeding up and down my street!! We thought someone was hurt by how loud you were screaming! Police will take notice if this happens again and they will notify your parents.”

“Thumbs down, way down to all of you who support the Litchfield fire chief. You should ask some of us on the department what it’s like to have him as chief!”

Thumbs Up? Thumbs Down? “We want to be your Mechanic”

practice should be illegal! They fire and hire so rapidly it’s like a revolving door.”

“Thumbs down to Hudson REC again! I went to see my husband’s softball game at Jette Field with my daughter. The stands were filled with guys from the earlier game drinking and swearing. I am also sure that it is time for Comedy Nights at the Community Center to start up again which is a BYOB event. Alcohol and Town sponsored recreation events do not mix and should never happen. There are businesses in town that cater to this atmosphere. Have your alcohol related functions there and not in our recreation fields and buildings. The days of town-sponsored ‘BYOB’ events is over.”

“Thumbs down on Warren

Buffett’s call for new taxes while he and other millionaires/ billionaires dodge their existing fair taxes using from income derived from tax free Municipal Bonds and the Charity Loophole in existing tax code. It isn’t that funny that the burden of his proposed higher taxes falls squarely on the backs of Middle Class Americans and not Mr. Buffett or his cronies. Mr. Buffett you’re what is generally referred to as a hypocrite!”

“Thumbs down to the director’s of the Hudson recreation departments editorial letter. Misconceptions? That’s your perception, not other’s. My perception of your editorial

know the state is breathing down Hudson’s back now. You cannot back-peddle now, the state was shocked at the information brought forward as were many town employees. Even the sports programs are failing, to the point where people are enrolling their kids in out of town sports. Last year my child was informed by the REC that he was not allowed to play soccer to his best ability, because he was too good and it wasn’t fair to the other children. We need to revamp the REC department.”

always an easy path. Some people prefer to assume, or to listen to rumor, or to be duped and maybe even say things that are downright hurtful just out of not knowing better. Well, if it doesn’t add up, maybe there is a bit more to it. I might be ‘ignorant,’ but I will at least admit that I cannot figure out why you say what you say. I am open to listen, but when people start telling me what they heard second hand, and it conflicts with what I (and others) witnessed first hand, then yes, our opinion will remain polar. Funny the word maliciousness was used, I do feel quite tired from being attacked. And I might be cruel to tomato worms and crabgrass, but I certainly am no felon, debtor, rapist, or habitual liar.”

working people who give their time up to watch your kids! I have gone to the REC center since I was six and have found it to be my favorite place to be during the summer and this summer I was a volunteer for the REC program! The counselors are there to keep your kids safe not there to be a babysitter! So stop complaining about it you’re wasting your time sweetie. The REC is the best place to be during the summer. They take your children to all sorts of field trips all summer long!! While I was volunteering at the REC I watched over some amazing kids. All were very respectful. The counselors the same; so kind and considerate. So stop writing ‘thumbs downs’ and get lives people! They are amazing people trying to get some cash for future things!! Thanks and bye!”

“Thumbs up to Jude whom we

have loved for so many years. C & D”

“Thumbs down, way down, to the person claiming teachers are waiting to ‘tag your child as good or bad but not ready to give them the teaching they deserve.’ You also state that the people of the town ‘need to get their dollar’s worth for the job in Hudson.’ Do you realize that many teachers in this town, some with Masters degrees are making less than people in other jobs requiring only high school diplomas? Do you realize how late at night your child’s teacher stays up planning lessons for your child? Do you realize the amount of their own

money teachers spend on their classrooms? Do you attend school board meetings to help in the decision making regarding educational funding as well? Your statements only demonstrate your

ignorance and put out a false message to youth about the teachers who are so passionate about providing your child with the best education possible. Thumbs way up to Hudson teachers!!”

letter is that it is the both of you trying to cover your derrières. The misconception of the REC is that they firmly state they do not provide child- care; however people pay you to watch their kids while they are at work, but yet you state you do not provide childcare. This is the correct perception...the children are there but you refuse to care, the children have spoken the parent’s have listened and now starts the hope for a better recreation department without deceitful director’s misconceptions of the facts. Take responsibility.”

“Thumbs down to the geese at Benson’s. Send them back to Canada! They are messy and a health hazard and need to go.”

“Thumbs down to the directors from the REC.

staff were mean, lied, would not listen to me, and told me I was a liar ‘cause I was not looking at her when she was yelling at me. I was put in time outs for up to an hour and a half. Two-hour rides on unairconditioned buses, kids felt so sick they layed on the bus floor. I really hated that my lunch melted everyday, even though mom put in lots of ice. I felt like I was not taken care of and had to watch out for my brother and sister. My little brother was bullied by a big kid and the staff didn’t help, so I did and I got in trouble but the kid bullying didn’t. Every morning when we got there, there was a brother and sister dropped of, the REC would make them stand out side for over an hour, cause their parents wouldn’t pay for early morning care, even in the rain. When my mom called to talk to them they yelled at her and blamed everything on us. My 6-year-old brother could not get a drink when he got sick we were on a field trip and the REC didn’t even know he was throwing up. I don’t want the REC to treat me like a baby, I just thought they would care more.”

“Thumbs up to the great teachers in our town

who work countless hours to ensure our children get the education they deserve, and doing this in one of the lowest paying districts in the area. ‘Thumbs down’ to parents who fight with teachers instead of working with them.”

“Thumbs down to the person who stole the American flag from the 911 memorial. Too bad we don’t have Iraqi rule for a day and we can just cut off his hands like he deserves.”
