AVING WORKED in the hairdressing profession for
nineteen years, Russell Hales is a man who takes every aspect of his business seriously – you only have to step into his salon to realise his depth of commitment. Not content with merely creating gorgeous haircuts, he’s designed the setting for them, too: “I wanted to create a unique, boutique-style space with a user-friendly, relaxed feeling,” he explains. “The ground floor is predominately our cutting work-space, while the first floor is dedicated to colouring, with a cosy space to relax in.”
Because the Joseph Isaac Hair Design team recognises that each customers has his or her own unique requirements, it offers everyone a complimentary one-to- one consultation, at which the
stylist looks at the client’s lifestyle and styling requirements – plus, of course, at their hair-texture and face-shape. Says Russell, “I believe that hair should always look its best, even on bad days – that’s why the consultation process is the most important part of your visit to us. Our priority is to make sure the client feels listened to, is confident in their style choice and that he or she feels completely relaxed.”
Russell’s international stage and seminar experience means he has a wealth of knowledge to pass on to his dedicated and enthusiastic team. training, encouraging team- members to attend seminars and courses. “You’ve got to be ahead of trends and industry developments,” he says, “It’s what fuels your fire and keeps your work fresh and exciting. I’m passionate about the future of Joseph Isaac Hair Design and feel that, with the help of my incredibly talented team – stylists Tim Jones, Natalie Crouch and Isobel Bannister – we can only build on the success of the salon in offering exceptional comfort, service and, of course, hairdressing.”
Only one thing remains a mystery: if he’s always owned the business and is so clearly devoted
to it, why doesn’t it bear his name? “That’s where my beautiful sons come into the equation,” explains Russell, “The salon is named after them – and if I needed any other motivation to take Joseph Isaac Hair Design to even greater heights, they’re it!”
