Volunteer Student Missions is preparing youth to bring revival to the world—not just tomorrow, but today
BY DONNY PARRISH Director, Student Missions
lmost every revival the world has ever known has been propelled by the devotion, enthusiasm, and imagination of young people. To ignore the
fact that God has seemingly chosen to do some of His greatest work through His “kids” would be to turn our back on one of His most powerful tools: BMA students! History is replete with stories proving God’s willingness to use kids.
• To Joshua and the generation 20 years of age and under, God promised…
“Your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it” (Deuteronomy 1:39).
• Some doubted a kid named David could take the giant, Goliath…
“You are not able to ... fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth ...” (I Samuel 17:33). I think we all know how that worked out.
• God made a kid named Josiah the King of Israel and used him to start a revival…
“In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David ... and he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places ...” (II Chronicles 34:3).
• And when Jeremiah had moments of self-doubt because he was young, God reassured him by saying…
“Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth. But the Lord said to me: ‘Do not say, I am a youth. For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak’” (Jeremiah 1:6, 7).
BMA Students are responding to the call of God to take His Word to all the nations of the world. Trough Volunteer Student Missions (VSM), and unique opportunities like Operation New Generation and ISHELP, high school and college students are answering God’s call to go. Te vision statement of Volunteer
Student Missions is as follows… In order to act as a catalyst to a lifestyle
of missions, Team VSM endeavors to educate teenagers about God’s heart for the nations to expose them to the work of missions, and to provide opportunities for teenagers to experience mission work firsthand. Tat is exactly what VSM is doing!
Students from all across the BMA took mission trips around the world, spreading the love of Christ and aiding the work of the BMA missionary who serves on that field. Te people who they come in contact with are touched by their love and enthusiasm. Te lives of each student are changed, too. You can’t go to the mission field and not come back changed.
