“We are supposed to see transformation, but all too often we see stagnation.”

W

hy all the fuss? Why invest time, effort, and finances into a church revitalization initia- tive? Why train consultants to

help churches transform? Why set up a BMAA Transformational Church website? (www. churchtransformationplus.com) Te answer is because there is hope for every local BMAA church. We believe we have found a tool, if utilized, that can deliver on what it promises; transformation. In the book Transformational Church, we

read, “We are supposed to see transforma- tion, but all too oſten we see stagnation. God’s plan is that ‘We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed (transformed) into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.’ (2 Corinthians 3:18). Tat means that we (as individuals) and ‘we all’ (as the church) are sup- posed to see this transformation. Transforming from ‘glory to glory’ should be normal, but too oſten it is exceptional. Our passion is to help the church see, aspire to, and achieve biblical transformation.”

Why Transformational Church?

We believe in the local church and know that it is God’s instrument to deliver the message of transformation to our com- munities and to the world. We believe that aſter looking at several other church revitalization programs and trainings, Transformational Church seemed the best fit for the BMAA. We believe that the research behind Transformational churches (the larg- est ever of its kind) adds credibility and legitimacy. We believe this initiative is an excellent value. Te size of financial investment into a very effective evaluation tool is minimal.

We all hear the gloom and doom of what is going on in churches across America, but there is hope. Here is another quote from Ed Stetzer and Tom Rainer: “Trough the Transformational Church initiative and study, we have cause for great hope. Te men and women who interviewed thousands of pastors and church members encountered unabashed optimism about what God is doing in the church today. Te hope we discovered in these churches is the reason we are encouraged about the Transformational initiative.”

We believe in Te Transformational Church Assessment Tool (TCAT). It is easy to take, immediately helpful, and gives you an excellent picture of how your membership views your church. (http://www.lifeway.com/tc/bmaa/) We believe that evaluation is a good process and that any church can develop an Action Plan to aid in transformation when they take part in the TCAT. We believe this initiative provides excel- lent tools available to your congregation such as the TCAT (see #5), the book, and the DVD with six interactive lessons. We believe this initiative is one of the most flexible and easiest to custom- ize. Level 1: Read the book. Level 2: Read book and use DVD. Level 3: Add the TCAT. Level 4: Bring in an outside consultant to lead the church through a Discovery Retreat. We believe it provides excellent training for consultants who can assist churches in the Transformational process. We believe it delivers hope and a proven method to see that hope becomes reality.
