principal’s welcome


I am pleased to welcome new students to the University and to the City. This is always an exciting time of the year as the University is transformed by the presence of around 14,000 full time students returning to their studies or, like you, exploring the campus for the first time. Welcome Week is your gateway to what will be for many of you a new chapter in your lives. It will give you the opportunity, before classes begin, to find out what’s on offer, how we can support you and you can support yourself throughout your time here. This booklet is designed to guide you through these exciting first weeks. I trust that right from the start of Welcome Week you will quickly feel at home in the University. I look forward to meeting you and I wish you every success in your life as a student here.
