Formed in the spring of 2000 this phenomenal six piece Latin rock explosion continues to amaze fans wherever they present their celebration of the music of the legendary Carlos Santana. It’s all there, from the powerful four piece rhythm section that brings the heartbeat of the band that is congas, timbales, drums and bass, to the infectious Cuban piano and haunting Hammond organ wizardry of a truly
gifted keyboard maestro. The famous soulful vocal melodies complete what was recently described by Classic Rock Magazine as ‘One of the top five must-see tributes in the UK’, though the tag of ‘tribute band’ just doesn’t do this group of musicians justice.

FRIENDS OF THE TAVISTOCK MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL PRESENT
‘THE HÖLTY BIG BAND’ Sunday 4th September 8pm
This is the first of a series of events to be held this winter at The Wharf by the Friends of the Tavistock Music and Arts Festival.
The HÖLTY BIG BAND is a group of twenty young musicians from Tavistock’s twin town of Celle, in Germany. The band will be conducted by their Director of Music, Egon Ziesmann; those who witnessed the visit of the JUNGER CHOR CELLE last April, will know that they are to expect an exciting evening of music from our visitors. The band will be supported by our own St Eustachius Singers, conducted by Sean Sweeney.

The Friends are planning further events during the winter, including the annual bottle auction in December and a visit, in association with The Wharf, of the Miracle Theatre’s co- production with English Touring Opera’s performances of ‘TIN’ in March.
The Tenth Music & Arts Festival, with the theme of ‘fast and furious’, will run from 14th April to 7th May 2012. Planning is already underway and volunteers to become involved are most welcome - please contact the Steering Group on
