THE CUCKOO COLLECTIVE SATURDAY 22ND OCTOBER 8PM
DOMINIC KIRWAN Thursday 20th October 8pm
Playing a set of popular Funk and Soul dance numbers The Cuckoo Collective are back at the Wharf again after a first successful outing in March. This West Devon based band first came together last year as a means to enjoy their collective passion for music that was born in an era of black American resistance and that has since become a staple of popular culture. You will also hear some more contemporary songs that have been given the Cuckoo Collective Soul and Funk treatment. Since earlier in the year lead singer, and Cuckoo extraordinaire, Clare Pettinger has been busy producing her own brood of twins in July. The band has been joined by Ian Newton on vocals and continues to develop a repertoire of instantly recognizable tunes. We hope you will come to move to the groove of slick bass lines, the high energy rhythm section and soaring brass solos that just make you want to get up and dance. Take a look at the band website on
www.thecuckoocollective.info to get a taste for the set.
Do join us, bring friends, family and work colleagues and be prepared to party.”
The bar and bar will be open from 7pm.

Formed in 1966 by Adge Cutler, the Bard of Avonmouth, this bunch of haystack-headed, cider-soaked and dung-booted, not- quite-so-young Avonside lads play good-time traditional Zummerzet Scrumpy ‘n’ Western music. The band has had considerable commercial success from their 1967 anthem Drink Up Thy Zider to the heights of the chart-topping Combine Harvester in 1976. Big in Nempnett Thrubwell, these guys are huge across the whole county!
The Wurzels shows regularly sell out so book early to avoid disappointment.
There will be a bar and barbecue from 7pm.
