Classic Groundcovers Mull inducted into Hall of Fame
You may know that Wilbur C. Mull has spent 48 years developing Classic Groundcovers in Athens, GA. But did you realize that since the age of 12 he has been a practicing auctioneer?
Mull recently was inducted into the State of Georgia Auctioneers Hall of Fame. Te high honor was presented at the association’s annual summer meeting at the King & Prince resort of St. Simons Island, GA.
A large part of Mull’s auction career has involved fundraising events for the green industry. Te list includes a wide range of auctions all over the country at trade show and special events, rais- ing money for state and national associations as well as for groups such as the HRI, International Plant Propagators (IPP), horticulture PACS, research causes and scholarship funds.
Examples and number of sales conducted by Mull for each include:
• South Carolina (18) • Arkansas (16) • Georgia (15) • North Carolina (13) • IPP (11) • ANLA (8) • Florida (5)
In well over 400 auctions, it is estimated that over $2 million has been raised for charitable causes.
