Musicians set for free September Concert Business sponsorships available, volunteers sought


Performers slated for the free September Concert at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 10 include young jazz musicians and sisters Tissiana and Renata Vallecillo, 10 and 12 years old respectively, of Peterson Farms in Chandler, who will play original compositions at the second annual community concert. Organized by the Chandler Irish Cultural Council (CICC), the concert will be held in the ballroom at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort, 1 N. San Marcos Pl. in historic downtown Chandler. Other musicians confi rmed at press time include Clemente Ranch vocalist Lyn Jackson, who will sing with Richard Palalay of Phoenix on keys; the Brisas Mallet Masters Percussion Group, a drumming group from Las Brisas Elementary School; V-Knights, a rock band of young brothers from Chandler; Will Thayer, a bagpiper from the group Tartanic; vocalist Ron Butler of Phoenix; Irish vocalist and drummer Claire Zucker of Tucson; Gospel vocalist Victor Hardy; Time & Time Again, a do-wap band; and dancers from the Bracken School of Irish Dance. Mitchell and Molly Williamson of Mesa, dueling sax players, will play prior to the concert at 5:30 p.m. during a fundraising dinner for CICC, which includes a silent auction and raffl e prizes. Tickets are $40 for the general public; $35 for CICC members; and $25 for children age 12 and younger.


Vendors will also be set up in the lobby of the San Marcos Ballroom prior to the dinner and the concert, and include Scentsy candles, Art Online AZ artists Bonnie Lou Coleman, Karen Kacie and Vicki Robbins, with Murray’s Fine Irish Jewelry and Clothing and others.


Sponsors, volunteers sought


Sponsors and volunteers are sought to take part in the event, which is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and the September Concert. Professional and semi-professional musicians will play all types of music at thousands of venues around the world at the annual global day of music in “celebration of peace and humanity,” organized by the September Concert Foundation and its partner Sister Cities International. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of aspects of the event, including as greeters, registration, decor, runners, set-up and teardown and more.


In addition, business sponsors are sought for tax-deductible donations in exchange for advertising and promotion. Specifi c sponsorships needed include for printing, dinner mementos, concert decorations as well as general fi nancial donations and silent auction or raffl e items.

CICC was created to join Chandler and Tullamore, Ireland as Sister Cities through Sister Cities International.
