Nick Gray lights the catwalk at V&A show

Volkslicht Zoom LEDs help to bring nostalgic tour to life

Favourite boy bands New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys have joined forces in a major American sell-out arena tour this summer under the soubriquet NKOTBSB. In order to allow the bands to engage at close quarters with their hordes of screaming fans, Production Designer Butch Allen designed a 91ft catwalk leading from the main stage to a ‘B’ stage — using no fewer than 79 GLP Volkslicht Zoom LED spots to edge the perimeter of the vast 155ft-wide main and subsidiary stages — including 17 footlights down each side of the thrust. Tait Towers fabricated the complex staging and movement.

Nick Gray, from London based creative lighting design practice Renegade, was commissioned to design a scheme for the recent Yojhi Yamamoto "Fashion In Motion" live catwalk show in the Raphael Gallery at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. Gray was working for show producers Bacchus, a regular client with whom he works on many London Fashion Week events, and for whom he also recently lit Lagos Fashion Week in Nigeria and a concert performance by Beyonce. He has also previously lit a Fashion In Motion show at the same venue for Kenzo. The high profile Yamamoto event featured some classic men's and women's creations from the acclaimed Japanese designer which were also part of a major retrospective exhibition of his work on show at the V&A.
