NIGHT & DAY Bigg Design and Zero-Waste Design were commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council to deliver this scheme for an underpass in Cumbernauld, Scotland. Working with local school pupils and engaging with members of the community, they developed a design that transforms the experience of using the underpass (previously a dark, intimidating area subject to vandalism) into an inspiring, unique journey that feels bright, airy and welcoming. Murals on the underpass walls celebrate scenes from the local landscape of Cumbernauld and include a mixture of people, parks, wildlife, and architecture, whilst the LED lighting (from local manu- facturer LEDtek) slowly changes hue over the course of the night to symbolise the colourful lighting transitions from day to night to day.

François Guillet, CEO of Lumières Utiles created a dynamic lighting scheme using Martin projectors at Austerlitz Railway Station in Paris as part of SNCF’s renovation programme. In total, 26 Exterior 200 LED luminaires were installed, four luminaires per arch: one on each side lighting the piles. A Martin M-PC, a PC-based version of the Martin Maxxyz and M-Series consoles, linked to a Martin Ether2DMX8 router with a Martin MaxModule Programmer was used for programming. Martin France worked with technical partner Equipscène on system integration and with François Guillet on the controller and network aspects.
