Jersey Telecom reports record


turnover


The recently published 2010 Annual Report of the Jersey Telecom Group has revealed the highest ever turnover in the Group’s history. For the financial year ending 31 December 2010, turnover was £96.2 million and profit before tax was £11.7 million (compared to £5.7 million in 2009). A dividend of £4.5 million was paid to the Group’s shareholder, the States of Jersey. n


Ogier expands into Shanghai


Legal and fiduciary service provider Ogier has opened an office in Shanghai as it further expands its worldwide network. Commenting on the announcement, Group Chief Executive Officer Nick Kershaw said: “We are the first offshore firm to have an office in mainland China, and the only offshore law firm in Asia with lawyers qualified to offer advice on the key jurisdictions of BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey. As a result, our business in Asia is well established and has been extremely successful.” Ogier Shanghai will be headed up by Kristy Calvert, who is a native Mandarin and Shanghainese speaker, and has extensive corporate and commercial law experience in the Asia Pacific region. n
