REAL- TIME BUS SIGNS FOR CLONDALKIN AND LUCAN

for

Children and Youth Affairs,

Frances has the

announcement of real- time bus signs across Lucan and Clondalkin as part

the

Government’s real time bus signage scheme.

‘This is great news for local commuters. There is

nothing more

frustrating than waiting for a bus and wondering when it will come. These signs will offer a clearer indication of what bus is on its way and how long it will take to reach you’ said Fitzgerald.

The plans announced by Leo Varadkar, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport will see 500 real-time bus signs in operation by the end of the year subject to ESB

connections to the

location. There will also be a live text service for all buses coming on stream in Autumn with a live website and phone app being developed to follow busses in real time.

‘Earlier this year, I was concerned about Dublin Bus’s plans to cut the 68 and 69 buses from our area. After meeting with

Dublin I Bus

officials, I was glad that these plans have been reversed.

committed to ensuring that Clondalkin, Lucan, Newcastle, Rathcoole and Palmerstown are not isolated from our city centre and along with this new signage scheme, we now have a stronger

service’ said Fitzgerald. The planned bus sign

installations will take place at the following locations; In Lucan signs are planned for Lucan Road at the junction of Kings Hospital,

opposite

Chalet Gardens and the junction of Sarsfield Park. On the Old Lucan Road there will be a sign at the junction of Ballyowen Road and on Griffeen Avenue at the junction of Griffeen Road. There will also be signs on the Esker Road opposite Arthur Griffith Park and at

the am Willsbrook Estate in Ballyowen.

In Clondalkin signs are planned for Orchard Road at the junction of Watery Lane, the Ninth Lock Road opposite Thornfield Square, at Woodford Walk at the junction of Woodford Grove and on the Bawnogue Road at the junction of Lealand Road.

The locations were selected based on passenger numbers and targeted at the busiest stops.
