SHOW PREVIEW Maison et Objet

Individuality is on the itinerary at Maison et Objet

The September edition on this fashion led home interiors show is all about the unique and distinct

theme chosen this year by the Maison&Objet Observatory. Mass uniformity is no longer desired, and in today’s age of globalisation, people no longer wish to ‘be like everyone else’. With this in mind, the organisers of Maison et Objet is hoping to capture this ‘desire to be different’ and embracing it to apply to the home. For the latest edition of Maison et Objet, focus will be on the individual, the unique and freedom of choice in design to allow for differentiation in matters of taste and style. The offer of Maison&Objet gives to the visitors a 360° view of trends in home fashion. In order to detect new trends, the exhibition organisers decided to

E

ach edition of Maison et Objet has a theme – for the upcoming September edition, ‘Singularite’ is the

set up a dedicated observatory which, each season, delivers a summary of creative trends and marks out fashion outlooks to come. This constantly aware laboratory produces several tools that allow distributors and specifi ers to fi nd the most high potential vehicles but also nourish their inspiration.

Inspiration trend book and spaces The fi rst of these tools is the inspiration trend book published at each new session of the exhibition. In September, the notion of Singularity has been chosen to decode the representative movements of short and medium term orientations of design. They are analysed and decoded by the best trendsetters but also physically staged by Elizabeth Leriche, Vincent Grégoire for NellyRodi and François Bernard in areas that become genuine sources of inspiration and discovery for all sectors’ professionals.

Tribute to designers Every year, Maison&Objet, scènes d’intérieur and now !design à vivre choose the designers that crystallise the momentum of contemporary design. This year pays tribute to

architect Edouard François, interior designers Gilles&Boissiers and designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Around these essential signatures, a strong focus is made on young designers. In particular the Talent à la Carte operation this session gives special visibility to the Japanese avant-garde. The Artytube area, staged by the

Nelly Rodi agency, presents the fi nest offerings from the arts and crafts trades and 6 young talents from this world.

Conferences to dig deeper Feeding inspiration also means giving the conceptual keys needed to approach all the sector’s evolutions and issues. Thanks to a conference

programme including prestigious speakers, visitors to the exhibition have access to a very enriching forum.

New ways of eating together The kitchen comes out of the closet. Now a living room in its own right, it focuses on sharing and conviviality in the home. But over the past few years, the real novelty lies in its return to its initial purpose. Cooking is back in fashion!

Real TV shows dedicated to cooking refl ect this, as do specialist magazines that help us return to its pleasures. Eating well has become a philosophy that brings on board several trends: lovers of tradition can simmer up a return to their roots whereas lovers of world food get to their chopsticks. Tableware is in tune Ever more colourful and inventive, they explore new ways of receiving and deviating daily meals away from boredom.

The will to eat better is

reinforced by the search for increasingly specialised utensils, more respectful of fl avour and nutrition, but also the environment, thanks to eco- friendly farming.

Colour block From showcases to the table, colour acts as a vitamin- enhanced and good-humoured jolt. A few touches of primary colour give life to cutlery and sharpen the appetite for new inspirations.

Green light

Organic and good have a positive resonance that manufacturers like to take advantage of. Many work with ‘green’ materials. It seems legitimate to focus on the quality of materials that are in contact with our food, it is especially necessarily that utensils and cooking methods respect all its qualities.

Culinary design

When life speeds up, mealtimes are a rare moment for sharing and getting together. They are given texture by simple or sophisticated staging, easy to repeat every day, depending on the occasion. Their ritual is taken away with bento boxes or packed meals and to serve them, design gives them friendly and innovative airs.

A matter of taste A separate sector at La Table, Histoires de goûts is dedicated to high-end food products. Here, inspiration of the palate starts by seducing the eye and the best products become gifts that people like to give and receive. Gourmet products, creative packaging exalt the typicality of prestigious food-producing territories and exceptional products From gourmet quality to epuricurianism, the art of living is spiced up with little luxuries.
