POWERED BY fun-kit.net & museum-kit.net DUST GETS BUSTED

New from Hanwell Instruments is DustBug, a device to help museums, galleries and historic buildings deal with a problem that could cause un- told damage to valuable artefacts. Dust can lead to scratches, erosion, staining and the growth of microbes, but an additional challenge is that a high frequency of cleaning and dust- ing can cause further damage.

wristbands. The bar-coded wristbands, available in a range of vibrant colours, are ideal for amusement, theme and wa- terparks, sporting events and concerts. The Z-Band Splash wristband features a durable, water-resistant adhesive, which is suited to waterparks, resorts and cruise lines, while the Z-Band Fun bar coded wristband, used with direct thermal printing, is said to offer en- tertainment venues material benefi ts compared with RFID equivalents.

The device has been designed to monitor the amount of dust in a particular area, and provide curators, exhibition manag- ers and preservation offi cers with vital data to support decisions on dusting patterns. Placed on a fl at surface fac- ing upwards, the glass-fronted sensor gathers and measures the dust that is naturally falling and displays its real- time reading on a small numeric screen.
