B A ROMETER: AUGUST 2011 THE WORD

WEIRD SCIENCE, SUMMER APPS, AND OTHER THINGS FLOATING OUR BOAT THIS MONTH...

OF THE MONTH

SIZE MATTERS

Right-wing critics of the US Government have seized upon the news that government funding was used for a study into gay men’s penis size. The study, which was carried out by the National Institutes of Health, resulted in the published report ‘The Association Between Penis Size and Sexual Health Among Men Who Have Sex with Men.’ Amongst its findings was the revelation that men with a smaller-than-average-sized penis were more likely to take the “bottom” role during sex, while those with a larger- than-average chopper were more likely to be “top”. Apparently, they quizzed and measured 1,000 New York men before reaching these findings. Blimey! And we always thought science was a bit dull when we studied it at school…
