INTERNATIONAL UPDATE Cogetech ready for more VLTs
Aristocrat Lotteries expands its agreement with Cogetech to supply additional terminals
Aristocrat Lotteries, the server-based gaming arm of Aristocrat Leisure has secured an extension to its agreement with Cogetech S.p.A. The expansion of the relationship into the rapidly growing Italian VLT market will see Aristocrat Lotteries providing an additional 750 terminals to Cogetech, taking the total agreement to 3,000 terminals.
Aristocrat Lotteries Italia Country Manager, Bostjan Torkar (pictured right) expressed the extension as a vote of confidence from Cogetech in its TruServ system, terminals and, importantly, Aristocrat's game content.
Greece awaits the install of terminals
Greece’s new gambling law provides for the operation of a total amount of 35,000 slot machines in Greece. 16,500 machines would be operated by state-controlled betting company OPAP (15,000) and the Hellenic Horse Racing Organisation ODIE (1,500). OPAP would receive a license for slot machines under the draft law, arising from the contract between the company and the government. Currently 5,000 OPAP branches operate in Greece, of which 2,000 are in Attica and 830 in central and eastern Macedonia. Ahead of the privatisation of ODIE, the government’s intention is to make it more attractive and enhance its portfolio. ODIE has a network of 453 branches, of which 380 are common with OPAP, but the objective is to reach an optimal 1,000 VLTs in order to absorb its quota of terminals. The law, which awaits EU approval and is expected to need revision, states that the cost of participation of players would range from €0.10 to €2, and would be adjustable. The licence is valid for 10 years from the date of issue and a single licence would be given for each contractor. The law would prohibit operators from sub- licensing to avoid monopolistic and oligopolistic practices.
“We needed a reliable
partner and we believe we chose the best
with Aristocrat. The games and the
machines supplied by
Aristocrat are always a great success in Iziplay's stores.” Fabio Schiavolin, CEO Cogetech.
"We are proud that with our support, Cogetech is the first concessionaire in this market to have nine games approved and live. Furthermore, we are delighted with the launch of our latest title for Italian players, 5 Dragons, one of the most successful slot games globally," he said. “The VLT market is a winning business and Cogetech has focused its efforts into this growing sector of the market,” said Fabio Schiavolin, CEO, Cogetech.
TCSJohnHuxley agrees DigiDeal DTS supply deal
TCSJohnHuxley and DigiDeal Corporation have signed a distribution agreement that enables TCSJohnHuxley to supply the full range of DigiDeal products in specific regions around the world.
DigiDeal has developed a range of multi-player card game products, which feature digital gameplay, but utilise a live dealer/host with traditional chips to retain the live game feel. The DTS (Digital Table System) platform can be played with real chips, but can also employ money- handling capabilities like ticket-in, ticket-out and virtual chips, with the option to operate in auto-host mode or fully automated. Players are part of the action with virtual chip selection and betting, real-time card peeking plus up- to-date credit and player bank information. The new DTS has full network capabilities and is compatible with financial tracking systems.
The addition of DigiDeal products, given the unique qualities and flexibility of the DTS platform, allows traditional table games like Blackjack to be introduced to ‘slots only’ gaming venues. Many Jurisdictions in the U.S. and around the world do not allow traditional paper card table games, making DigiDeal’s digital table game technology ideal for those locations.
Roger Hawkins, CEO TCSJohnHuxley The Americas commented on the deal: “We are delighted to be able to offer the DigiDeal range of products which complement our multiplayer game portfolio entirely. By combining our market knowledge and resources with DigiDeal’s digital table game technology, we now have a product offering that covers all the requirements of casino operators in this ever expanding market.”
