INTERNATIONAL UPDATE New Swiss licences awarded
Swiss Casinos win the Zurich licence while the B-licence goes to Neuchatel FBAM SA
The Swiss Federal Council has declared the winners of the two new casino licences in the city of Zurich and region of Neuchatel in Switzerland. In the city of Zurich the casino project has been awarded to Swiss Casinos AG Zurich, while the Neuchâtel licence has been granted to Neuchâtel FBAM SA for its Casino de la Rotonde.
On 24 March 2010, the Federal Council announced the tender licensing process for the city of Zurich and region of Neuchatel for two new casinos, an A concession in Zurich and a B concession in the Neuchâtel. With the implementation of the procedure, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (FGB) was commissioned to complete the process.
The Swiss Federal Gaming Board examined nine applications against their statutory requirements. begin the preparatory work and implement
the project. Only when all details were in order, would the
concession be finally granted. The Federal
Gaming Board stated that all applications were of high quality
and met the statutory
conditions.The losing bids included Zurich AG (Old Stock
Exchange), Grand Casino Zurich AG (Sihlcity), Grand Casino Baden,
Switzerland (Du-Pont- house) and Zurich City Casino AG (EPA- Haus/Sihlporte).

The Federal Council has relied on the request of the Federal Gaming Board to award the Zurich licence to Swiss Casinos AG Zurich. The Swiss Group currently operates casinos in Switzerland in St. Gallen, Schaffhausen and Pfäffikon. Swiss Casinos AG Zurich is expected to open its A licence casino in the former department store Ober Haus (Gessner Allee 3/5, Sihlstrasse 46/48) in autumn 2012.
Regarding the casino in the region of Neuchatel, the Federal Council awarded the project to Neuchâtel FBAM SA. This project is backed by Kongress und Kursaal Bern AG and is to be developed on the site of the Casino de la Rotonde (Faubourg du Lac 14), whereby the new B licence casino will open in early 2012.
While the selected applicants can immediately begin preparing the commencement of operations, before the opening of two new casinos, the FGB must will seek the formal consent of the cantons and municipalities, which have thus far expressed initial positive reactions. In Switzerland, there will be 21 licensed casinos. Of these, eight concessions will be listed as A-Class Grand Casinos and 13 have a B-Class license as Kursaals.
Ritzio’s Latvia expansion for Casino City locations
Ritzio International reports the opening of two new gaming clubs in Latvia. Both locations belong to the City Casino gaming chain, operated by the company in the country’s urban areas.
