Russia’s Ritzio Group expands its Italian business with VLT operations during summer

Ritzio Italy has reported the launch of VLT operations in its Vulcano della Fortuna gaming properties. A pilot installation of eight Lottomatica machines took place in La Spezia in April and was followed by a batch of 32 VLTs in the company’s other five venues in June.

“The Italian gaming market moves toward diversity – to provide more services at a single location. We are following the trend with an offering of a mix of modern slot machines, VLTs and traditional services,” commented Poline Brat, the head of Ritzio’s Italian division.

The first few months of operations have proved the new machines to be popular among the Vulcano della Fortuna players. Currently, Ritzio plans to place video lottery machines into all of the company’s

CA withdraw from Vaduz licence bid

Casinos Austria has pulled out of its bid for the Vaduz casino licence in Liechtenstein. The move by Casinos Austria follows that of Swiss Casinos, which also pulled out of the bidding process. The financial requirements for the Vaduz site are thought to be enormous. It is estimated that investments are expected of around CHF60m for the reconstruction and expansion of existing hotels. The six year casino licence of the relatively tiny Liechtenstein is, however, thought to have a potential to earn more than CHF20m gross gaming revenue per year. Casinos Austria had formed a bid with hotel owner Wolfgang Egger, who is a hotel concession holder in Liechtenstein. CA Spokesperson, Martin Himmelbauer, commented: “Our partners wanted to develop the project in a direction that does not match the original agreement and our intention.” It is now believed that Mr. Egger is in talks with Switzerland’s Casino Baden AG, which was recently frustrated in its bid for the Zurich casino licence. However, Novomatic is now firmly in pole position with its bid for the licence, which offers very favourable sliding- scale taxation.
