here were two lakes at Blue Lake Park for this year’s triathlon on June 12-13. The second lake was overflow into the meadow from the extended rainy season.

Blue Lake had flooded into the old tran- sition area and AA Sports had to alter the course to make a new transition area. This made for a longer swim-to-bike transition to avoid the wet, swampy conditions. The weather cooperated over the two-day Blue Lake events and brought close-to-ideal condi- tions with mild winds and sunny skies. More than two-dozen MAC triathletes,

many wearing their new tri-kit uniforms, competed in the sprint and Olympic distances. Ten athletes competed in the sprint, three in the relay and one in the duathlon. Heidi Peyton, Debbie Frank and Greg Frank won their age-group divisions, Amy Mills was second in her age division, Charlie Burns

finished second in the duathlon, and Caryl Brown, Jami Sherman and Nancy Williams placed third in the all women’s relay. Coach Linnea Alford placed third in her age group and 6th overall among women. There were nine MAC triathletes

competing in the Olympic distance on Sunday. Lauren Binder, Alan Lyons and Bridget Dawson won their age divisions (Coach Dawson also winning the overall masters’ division), and Katherine Burns and Ben Jacobson placed third in their age divi- sions. For the beginning of the tri season, it’s a good start for MAC athletes who have trained hard through the late winter and rainy spring.
