According to Hudson Board of Selectman Ben Nadeau, the placement of their poops is presenting a problem for people who partake in the purviews of the park.

that contributed gift cards to be raffled off were; IM Wireless Verizon ($100) which also donated $5 of every cell phone sale, Valentino’s Family Restaurant ($50) and Adamos ($50). Gold’s Gym donated a free seven-day trial membership and CPTE offered on the spot, free injury assessments.
Coordinating the entire fundraiser was Amanda Graham, who is
employed at the IM Wireless store located at Nottingham Square. Graham, who was instrumental in organizing every facet of the event, first met Zach’s mother, Necole just weeks before Zach passed away. Since that time, Graham has become increasingly active in the fundraisers held in Zach’s honor. Included in her list of self- administered duties was arranging for musical entertainment-after all, what’s a block party without music. Filling the bill was the band, The Rampage Trio, renowned for their years of entertaining fans in the Merrimack Valley area. Started thirty years ago by lead singer Brian Owens, he along with bass guitarist Lain Perry and drummer Kevin Crowley entertained supporters with an eclectic mix of songs, including ‘”Draggin’ the Line” and the day’s dunk tank theme song, “So Into You.”
After being greeted by one of the many who came to show their support, Joanne Tompkins, Zach’s grandmother, was very humbled when she described the love and support that she and her family have experienced over the past 16 months; “This town (Hudson) is amazing. I don’t think there’s one person in this town that we don’t know now.”
Music for the Block Party was performed by local favorites, Te Rampage Trio
Non-Union Raises-continued from front page recalled that a previously approved
advisory article passed in Town Meeting back in the 1990s had stated that employee increases should come forward as a separate warrant article; comparing the current process under the Senate Bill 2 form of government against the one that had been used in Town Meeting days, he said the town salaries were kept under control, and there was no intention of seeing salaries skyrocket, but the Selectmen felt there had to be a delta between the salaries of managers and employees, saying it was not practical under the SB2 form of government to maintain the older approach, and stating that the salaries paid to Hudson department heads were well under the average salaries paid in
other communities. Noting that a recent newspaper comment had said that some of the department heads would get a 10 percent raise, he said this was not true, adding that the average was under 2.75 percent but a few were up to 7.7 percent because they currently were way out of whack, but others were 1 percent and 2 percent - adding that the Budget Committee looked at those numbers and had line-item control of the applicable items, which that committee did not have with respect to a separate warrant article After comments from several voters in attendance spoke, the motioned passed on a show of cards without a count. And the budget warrant article was passed by the voters at the March election.
The discussion continued in the Tuesday night meeting continued at the selectmen, with an exchange between Selectmen Coutu and Selectmen Maddox relative to the motion as Coutu presented, being all or none, and that being the reason Maddox felt he should vote no. Selectmen Jasper ruled that any motion can be split and long as it, the split off part, could stand on its own. The raises total $29,398 for the 11 month period or if annualized they would be $32,070 under the line item in the selectmen budget. The only upper management staff not receiving a raise was Assistant Town Administrator Mark Pearson whose salary was decreased recently to comply with the State of New Hampshire’s retirement laws that recently changed.
Perplexed Selectman Nadeau Proposes Park Poop Patrols
Nadeau is so perplexed with the people’s problem of pet owners not picking up the poop that he pronounced his purview that there may possibly be a need for special poop patrols. The purpose of the poop patrol personnel would be to pursue those pet owners who purposefully do not pick up their pet’s poop. The un-picked-up poop has the passages and pathways of the park, making them difficult to pass.
According to Nadeau, there are one or two “bad apples” that do not pick up their pet’s poop. “Please clean up after them,” commented Nadeau, at the July 26 Board of Selectmen’s meeting. He continued to comment that the pet poop problem also permeates the pond areas of Hudson, too, making the programs at the ponds problematic. “Maybe we need to ask the Animal Control Officer to patrol the park,” continued
The Well-Adjusted Dog Woof Talkby Belinda Sinclair
I have long believed that one of the most important things you can do for your puppy or dog is to socialize them. People often ask me what socialization means. Socialization is the process of exposing your puppy or dog to other dogs and people in safe and non-overwhelming ways, in a variety of settings. The concept seems simple enough, but so many people fail to properly

follow through on this critical step of their dog’s development. People believe that having two dogs in their home will help, when in fact it often makes the problem more severe. Occasional visitors to the house and some short interactions with your neighbor’s dog are not enough to develop a well-adjusted social dog. A puppy that never leaves the house thinks that the house is the entire world and everything else is scary and strange. Exposing your puppy to new people, new dogs, and a host of varied environments is the first step in creating a dog that is happy and welcomed
everywhere. One of the worse mistakes owners make is to keep their dog away from people because they want it to be more “protective.” Preventing a dog from meeting people only tends to make them fearful of strangers and can lead to biting issues. The number of people bitten by fearful dogs far exceeds the number of bites from aggressive dogs, although aggressive bites tend to be more damaging.
I had a recent client that owned two 40-pound, mixed-breed dogs that had never been properly socialized and were in need of help. They called
us because they were having a child and they were concerned about their dogs’ behaviors. They were concerned not only with how the dogs would interact with the baby, but also with the way the dogs would react to all the visitors that would be coming to see the newborn bundle of joy. I asked them how the dogs react now when people come to the house, and they informed me that friends and family had basically stopped coming to the house because of their dogs’ behavior. I found this hard to believe, but once I met their dogs I realized they were not exaggerating. We immediately started an in- home obedience program so the owners could get control of their dogs. The dogs responded in amazing ways. They immediately started showing increased confidence and decreased fear. The owners also became more confident in their ability to handle the dogs in social situations. We then introduced new people and dogs to them and they responded well, although we also had to train some of the dogs’ new friends on how to best interact with the dogs. I am thrilled to inform you that we received a thank-you letter from them and the dogs are doing great! The dogs absolutely love the baby and they have not had any issues with their dogs behaving badly. We see dogs with severe socialization and
behavioral issues at our doggie daycare frequently. It is amazing to watch their transformation as they go from scared and insecure puppies or young adults to confident and well-adjusted pets. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing a dog that is difficult to deal with and in danger of being given up on transformed into a loved and cherished family member! Belinda Sinclair is the owner

Hopefully, the public will personally police the parks and ponds, and pounce on those pet owners who do not pick up their pet’s poop, thus providing the public with a perfect place to partake the pleasures of a pristine and peaceful place.
