Changing Worlds: The Campaign for UNM
Mexico has been quietly under way. To date, nearly 50,000 donors have given more than $380 million to support the university’s mission.

In mid-April, this effort – Changing Worlds: The Campaign for UNM – went public. Nearly 800 UNM friends, alumni, donors, com mu nity lead - ers, dis tin guished fac ulty and stu dents joined to- gether to kick off the second and public phase of the eight-year campaign.
This is only the third time a university-wide cam- paign has been conducted. As part of the compre- hensive campaign, the university and the UNM School of Law have identified priorities, which in- clude:
• Endowed Scholarship Funds. Even though tuition at the UNM School of Law re- mains one of the best bargains around, eco- nomic conditions continue to force steady increases. A strong scholarship resource pool will allow the school to attract the best stu- dents and maintain the school’s trademark range of diversity;
or the past five years, the largest fundraising effort in the history of the University of New
• Endowed Chairs and Professorships. With a long tradition of bringing in and re- taining leaders in their academic fields, funds are needed to maintain this nationally recog- nized faculty. Competing with better-funded schools for new hires is an ever-present chal- lenge. Providing important faculty support will retain beloved faculty and power new ad- ditions and ideas;
• Capital Improvements. Worlds change when facilities and technology match the goals and innovation of those who use them. Needs at the UNM School of Law include tech- nology upgrades and expansion of the law li- brary and modernizing the nationally renowned law clinic and classrooms.
By the time the campaign concludes in 2014, 135 years after UNM opened its doors on an un- tamed mesa two miles east of Albuquerque, the UNM School of Law will be poised to move for- ward in a way that hasn’t been possible for many years, but only with the support of the school’s giving community.
To date, nearly 50,000 donors have given more than $380 million to support the university’s mission.
