The Grand Rapids Public Library, the Meanwhile Bar and Wealthy Street Theatre present a special screening of The Silence of the Lambs. An FBI trainee attempts to get through to the brilliant psychotic criminal, Hannibal Lecter, in order to catch a serial killer. Based on the book by Thomas Harris, it stars Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, and won five Oscars, including Best Picture.

At this presentation you will not hear ancient ghost stories or legends from long ago. Instead, Rev. Gerald S. Hunter shares his investigations into modern ghost stories—active hauntings that contin- ue to this day. You may hear that “Dead Brothers Still Care” in Escanaba, and that “Amish Kids Like Cake, Too” in Montgomery. From Marshall’s “Spectral Sewing Circle,” to Milford’s “Demon in the Dark,” to the ghostly conversations overheard in old Fort Wayne. Rev. Hunter, the author of Haunted Michigan, will report on the local spirits he has found in his investigations across two peninsulas. He will illustrate his talk with photos and recordings from his research.

THE MAKE-UP OF A SERIAL KILLER: FBI PROFILING Wednesday, August 24 7:00 pm Main Library 111 Library Street NE


Al DiBrito has been a Special Agent with the FBI for over 22 years. He is a National Center for Analysis of Violent Crime Coordinator, commonly referred to as a “profiler,” and was a member of the FBI’s Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team. Since 1997, he has been the coordinator of the Violent Crime Task Force in Benton Harbor, which is responsible for investigating gang, firearms, and ter- rorism violations. Between October 2010 and March 2011, he was deployed to Afghanistan where he was assigned to the Sensitive Site Exploitation Team at Bagram Air Force Base. In this program, Special Agent DiBrito will discuss FBI profiling and how it helps solve crimes and protect citizens.
