According to the Cobra Polo Classic website, “This worthy organization (Ron- ald McDonald House) provides a ‘home away from home’ with temporary lodg- ing, comfort and support for families of children accessing medical services, and supports related efforts to improve chil- dren’s health. Annually Ronald McDonald House-

Spokane helps 500 families by providing them 7,000 nights of lodging. Ronald McDonald House-Spokane helps fami- lies regardless of their ability to pay.” It is a little bit easier to dig deep into the pockets when you know the pro- ceeds are going to such a great cause. Of course, the Polo Classic holds its own as a downright festive event, of which you will want to be part. Polo is a sport not many people have had the opportunity to watch up close and in-person, and it is often consid- ered a sport of the elite. Perhaps the elegance that surrounds it is the root of that notion. As mentioned, elegant hats rule the day, and this is one sporting event to which you don’t wear your ten- nis shoes and baseball caps. Get ready for an afternoon of style, complete with dresses for the ladies, and casual dressy attire for the men. The day is full of much more than

polo. A parade of hats gives the ladies a chance to show of the handy work of their milliners, while embracing the spir- it of the event. Don’t forget the auction tables with incredible packages that will have you bidding non-stop. And what is an event without food and drink? There are plenty of delicious creations on which to nibble and sip, including cham- paign for the long-standing tradition of the champaign divot stomp!
