The JRSF has supported Alvirne Ice Hockey, Hudson United Soccer, Hudson Youth Baseball, Hudson Special Olympics, St. Vincent de Paul’s Holiday sports needs, sports equipment to the Anne-Marie House, scholarships to the Hudson Recreation Program, and Summer Hockey Camps, and is an active supporter of the Zach Field for Hudson Youth Football. This year’s event, held at the White Birch in Hudson with entertainment from the band “Soled Out Showband,“ was another successful and entertaining night for those who attended, and will provide continued funds for the activities of this organization.

by Len Lathrop Many times, simple acts become important acts that demonstrate how important our flag and our country are. The Senior Aerobics Group, which meets every Wednesday morning during the summer months, has been walking at Benson Park. Last week, they raised the question of where the 9/11 Memorial was going to be. With a little searching, the group found the area, and noted that it was only a small American flag lying on the ground, and they weren’t sure whether or not the flag was to mark the spot. Joan Brunelle and the group felt that it wasn’t a proper marking for the memorial and knew that it wasn’t right for the flag to be on the ground. Brunelle purchased a flag and on Wednesday morning, the group, assisted by an unnamed gentleman, planted the new flag to mark the spot for the 9/11 steel.
