Events Mumbles Raft Race
Knab Rock, Mumbles Sun 28th August
This year’s RNLI Raft Race will once again see the cleverly crafted rafts and colourfully decorated crews take to the water at Mumbles. The proceeds from this year’s race, as have the last two, will go to the Money for Mumbles Campaign launched in 2009 - a local fundraiser for the new Tamar class lifeboat scheduled for Mumbles in 2013.
This year, the race begins at 6pm at the starting point of Norton. Competitors should arrive 3-4 hours before the start to ensure there is enough time to register and apply any fi nishing touches to rafts and costumes.
There is a limit of 8 team members for a racing raft, but there are no restrictions on a fun raft. A minimum sponsorship of £250 is asked for, but of course more is always gratefully received.
Prizes are awarded on the night, for Most Sponsorship, Best Dressed Raft and Positions Home and also a Ladies’ First Raft Home. The Wave Roadshow will be on hand at Knab Rock pumping out the latest chart hits with The Lord Mayor of Swansea offi ciating at the prize giving. Register soon to secure a place!
