First Gilbert Art Walk in September

The jury process for artists wanting to be considered for the fi rst Gilbert Art Walk is now open for application, and pending Town of Gilbert Council approval of a park permit extension, it will be held on the fourth Friday of the month, tentatively starting on Sept. 23.

Organizer George Lenz, a photographer from Gilbert who has formed Arizona Art Promotions, LLC to run the art walk, says Gilbert is allowing them to use the Water Tower Park space under an existing permit, and that the Town Council has to approve a resolution to the existing park permit to extend the usage beyond six months for the same fee, which is expected to take place at the July 28 Town Council meeting. “This is going to be an exciting adventure for all of us,” Lenz says. “My hope is that Gilbert Art Walk will, of course, be a success. With us all working towards a common goal, I really believe we can do it. I appreciate all your support and look forward to working with you for a successful venue!” To cover Gilbert fees, each vendor will pay an annual $25 park permit fee that can be used for other events in Gilbert; there is a one-time jury fee of $15; individual event fees will be $15 for a 5-foot by 8-foot space and $25 for a 10-foot by 10-foot space; and artists and vendors will need stand-alone power for lighting and a current Arizona sales tax license.

The Water Tower Park is at 45 W. Page Ave. in downtown Gilbert, on the southeast corner at Gilbert Road. To be juried into the Art Walk, send three digital images of artwork that will be sold at the event and the application now online at the Gilbert Art Walk website at www.gilbertartwalk.com. Payments eventually may be made via Paypal, but for now, send a check to Lenz at 15 N. Rock St., Gilbert, AZ 85234. Contact him by email at info@gilbertarewalk.com or visit www.GilbertArtWalk.com.
