Fifty years ago this month, Chandler Regional Medical Center opened for business. At the time, it had just 25 employees and 91 volunteers. Fast forward to the present day, and the hospital has grown in many ways. The facility is now a 225-bed nonprofi t hospital with more than 2,000 employees, 800 doctors and more than 300 volunteers.
“We are proud of the giant leaps Chandler Regional has made over the years,” says Patty White, president and CEO of Chandler Regional Medical Center. “As we celebrate our history, we look forward to many more years of serving the community.”
The variety of services offered has also grown over the years. For example, since 1984, the hospital has added a new wing, two medical-surgical fl oors, an expanded Emergency Department, a full-service Cancer Center, a comprehensive Heart and Vascular Center, a Wound Healing Center with two hyperbaric oxygen chambers and a free-standing Women’s Imaging Center.
Chandler Regional plans to begin construction on a new 100-bed patient tower, and it also hopes to expand its services to offer neurosurgery from Barrow Neurological Institute trained physicians in August. For more information, visit
