Are You a Poet or Poetically Prone? On Sunday the 10th, I

was over at Prescott Park in Portsmouth for the Jazz Festival and on the return to my car a few blocks from there, I happened upon a unique display for a group of readers of poetry, known as the Gates Street Poetry Readers. This group of poetry readers (maybe 10 writers) has a display/drop- box along the sidewalk filled with poetry contributions from the Gates Street residents—free for the taking to passers-by. I looked at that fantastic idea and got inspired to share that discovery with other poetic folks I know, or do not yet know, such as the members of the Poetry Society of New Hampshire and perhaps my neighbors around Central and Ferry Streets. For anybody who may also be inspired with this idea, you can get more information about how it started at www. seacoastonline.com. And for any of my Central

and Ferry Streets neighbors who would like to explore this idea for our immediate area or if other poetic neighbors are also interested, I am listed in the phone directory, or contact me at gods-knight-1@NetZero.Net.

Broken Government in Hudson

Having received legal notice in regards to the car cover in front of my property in the town of Hudson, my wife and I visited Mr. Oleksak, Zoning Administrator, to discuss the reasons. Mr. Oleksak started to explain the violation of a zoning ordinance in regards to the location of the car cover. I had received confirmation in 2005 for the installation from Zoning in a telephone call. In 2009, an ordinance was issued. Being that it was in December 2010, Mr. Oleksak postponed the visit until April 2011 due to winter. In April 2011, Mr. Oleksak visited us at our residence to confirm it would be fine to leave the car cover in place due to no better location. The car cover was a means of protection from inclement weather while loading my power wheelchair and not having to clear the vehicle of snow or ice. We encountered rude and humiliating actions at the hands of a city official other than Mr. Oleksak on our visit on December 2010. Mr. Oleksak regained control and helped in correcting the situation at hand. Having assurance from Mr. Oleksak of no more legal warnings or procedures, it was welcomed news. In June 2011, Mr. Jasper, BOS Chairman, stopped at my residence to express his dislike about an article in this paper (HLN) in regards to my response about his reducing 10 percent or more of three major departments of this city. I feared this news was demoralizing and counterproductive in the timing of the disclosure. Finding out your fate about employment this way was not proper. Posturing! During this visit, the car cover situation came up. Mr. Jasper stated a zoning variance was needed and legal procedures could take lots of time. After this declaration, we regret to say this was too stressful and removed the needed benefits of the car covering. Having the blessing of the Zoning Administrator in April 2010 and to relive it after the June 2010 encounter with Mr. Jasper was more than we could endure. The Zoning Board has no blame in this. They were kind and understanding. The decision was our own as homeowners of this city. Live free or die! Freedom comes with a price.

Motorcycle and Pickup Truck Collide, Police Investigating Cause

submitted by Hudson Police Department On Tuesday, July 12, at 10:36 p.m., members of the Hudson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 68 Dracut Road for a reported accident involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle. Upon the officers’ arrival, they determined that a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Robert Cavanagh, 52, of Pelham, had been traveling north on Dracut Road, and a 1994 Toyota pick-up truck driven by Kevin Desrosiers, 23, of Hudson, had been traveling south on Dracut Road. An on-scene investigation was conducted by the officers. It was determined

that the two vehicles collided when Desrosiers attempted to make a left turn, and he crossed into Cavanagh’s lane. Desrosiers was the lone occupant of the vehicle; he was wearing a seatbelt,

and was not injured. Cavanagh was the lone occupant of the motorcycle, and was wearing a helmet. Cavanagh was transported by the Hudson Fire Department EMTs to Saint Joseph Hospital in Nashua for non-life threatening injuries. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. This accident remains under investigation by the Hudson Police Department.
