KHALEDA ZIA VISITS MALIKS

Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and now opposition leader of the Bangladesh National Party, recently came to the UK on an official visit. During her stay she met various politicians, as well as business and com- munity leaders.

The Chairman of the Conservative Friends of Bangladesh, as well as the All Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh, Anne Main MP, hosted a private dinner at Malik’s Restaurant in Cookham, Berkshire for Khaleda Zia, who was delighted to learn about the development of the curry industry and also clearly remembered in 1994 when she was Prime Minister and supported the Dine Bangladeshi campaign in the UK. The campaign was a huge success in creating the aware- ness of different cuisine identities within the curry sector.

The chefs at Malik’s prepared a lavished meal for this spe- cial occasion. Khaleda Zia enjoyed Maliks food and praised the good work of the Bangladeshi people in the UK and in particular the development and their success in the curry industry. All the guests enjoyed the food and service at the British Curry Awards winning restaurant, Malik’s.

The owner of the restaurant, Malik Ahmed said, “I was over the moon having Khaleda Zia in my restaurant. I adore her and what she does for Bangladesh is great.”
