LIKUID

lan kwai fung, hong kong ASIA/PACIFIC/OCEANIA

Likuid club in Hong Kong opened its doors in February this year. It is located in the heart of the vibrant Lan Kwai Fung (LKF) area. Club creator Rachel Geicke was keen to keep the nightlife scene on track in LKF, and at the same time create a new experience for clubbers. The club opened in the space, which was formerly occupied by res- taurant Tuscany by H. It was here that Rachel met Likuid’s General Manager, Ravi Beryar. Together they organised a club concept, busi- ness plan and investor group. To complete the management team at Likuid, Australian Grant King was employed as Managing Director. He said: “Moving to Asia is really what turned my life around, both on a personal and business level.” A statement which demonstrates just how important the Likuid project was to him.

Rachel described Likuid as: “Hong Kong’s highest quality clubbing experience.” In order to live up to that tag line she needed to work with industry experts, on both the design concept as well as the technology installation specification.

This included Kinney Chan, who was in charge of the interior design. He took his inspiration from ‘fluidity’, and incorporated curves, arabesques and an outdoor colour changing chrome façade at the 2,000 sq ft venue. The AV and lighting design was provided courtesy of Hong Kong based, VGroup Ltd. Head of the company Dean Morris really wanted the gig. He made a number of calls and pushed hard to get a meet- ing with the club creators. Dean said: “They had already been in talks with two big companies and seen demonstrations of their systems. I asked for a chance to demo something new and special and told them I could be ready that afternoon at 3pm. They said come on down at 2pm to set up and we will see you at 4pm.
