equipment that was most suitable for the job. They selected Dyna- cord. Oussama has been a huge fan of its products for a number of years, and knows that its speakers are reliable, robust and highly ef- ficient. Oussama said: “The project was a highly prestigious one, and the choice of speakers and their location within the venue had to be selected carefully. The speaker size needed to be unobtrusive but at the same time provide high SPLs. As such we needed to be careful and meticulous in choosing the right brand and the right speaker.” The Dynacord VariLine Series was selected. The main system includ- ed 17 VL262 2-way full range cabinets, six VL122’s, ideally suited to demanding applications, and two VL62 passive speakers. “VL-Series loudspeakers are compact and deliver better sound and higher sound pressure levels than comparable products from other manufacturers,” explained Oussama. Elsewhere on the dancefloor, four Dynacord Sub28 subwoofers are employed to reinforce the bass. While two Dynacord Sub15 and four Electro-Voice TX1181 cabinets have been installed in the VIP and bar areas respectively. These have the same purpose as the subs on the dancefloor. Oussama continued: “The irregularity of the club’s architecture and the use of glass mirrors everywhere, necessitated a close coordina- tion with the architects and ID, to chose the right location of the speakers and subwoofers, without compromising quality and even coverage.”

The club already had eight Electro-Voice P300 amplifiers installed, so Oussama specified just four more Dynacord DSA 8410 amplifiers to take the power up to its requirement. The Dynacord amplifers were selected for their unique flexibility thanks to their integrated Variable Load Drive (VLD) technology. Each channel, for example, can be configured individually. When combined with the RCM-810 module, the amplifiers can be programmed, using IRIS-Net software, to deliver any output power from 100W to 500W or 1kW in 1W incre-

ments into any load from two to 10 ohms.

The control for the system is provided courtesy of a Dynacord P64 digital audio matrix manager. Oussama commented on its importan- tance for this project. He said: “The VL loudspeakers offer outstand- ing sound quality and the subwoofers, too, are excellent - but my absolute favourite is without question the P64. It simplifies our job

enormously. Instead of running backwards and forwards between the loudspeakers and amplifiers, with the P64 we can configure and supervise the entire system digitally using IRIS-Net software. And when they heard the sheer quality of the sound, our customers were equally enthusiastic.” Naturally, expectations for this project were high due to the prec- edent set by Whisky Mist London. To complete this project to the desired standards, and with minimal changes along the way is down to good planning and a well organised team. Oussama specifically thanked a few people: “I would like to thank Tony Sawyer from Bosch Communication who helped us in some technical issues pertaining to IRIS-Net and would also like to thank my team; Khaled, Walid,
