are individually movable across a curved track. From a 4:3 screen to six individual stripes, any conceivable position or combination is possible. Content for the LED wall is provided via a coolux Pandoras Box Media Server Pro. The LED wall, with varying positions and different visual content, forms a versatile setting for the huge variety of shows presented. Hilton Jones described the need for versatility: “Due to the large number of shows, a high degree of flexibility is required from the lighting system. The result being a high reliance on moving lights with very few conventional lights installed. As the Theatrium is basically a glass room, fixtures with relatively high output are required. However, in the compact spaces on a cruise ship the size of the units is also a consideration. “The lighting system is primarily moving lights from Martin Professional. The stage lighting in the Theatrium comprises of MAC 2000 Profiles and MAC 700 Washes with MAC 2000XB Washes

in the auditorium positions to give a little more intensity to colour washes at times when there is still daylight to contend with. At the rear of the stage is a white backdrop illuminated by Tripix strip lights and spaced around the two balcony levels are MAC 250 Washes to give low level light to the thrust stage. MAC 250 Entours are used as variable floor lamps for several shows.” The stock of lighting fixtures also includes a host of ETC Source 4 Zoom profiles, Arri Junior 650 Plus fresnels and Robert Juliat Super Korrigan followspots, with everything running through a MA Lighting grandMA2 Light control desk. With this space, PartnerShipDesign has created a design-focused, entertainment area, which is opened up by panoramic windows on either side of the ship and glass dome roof. With such emphasis on design, the sound consulants were tasked with making the audio installation as subtle as possible, while the abundance of hard surfaces created another challenge; reverberation.
