One of the main challenges for the technical team behind Waterside Theatre was satisfying a brief that demanded multi-functionality. For the venue to accommodate theatre, live music and any other type of performance, an electro-acoustic solution was chosen. Each entertainment area on AIDAsol presented different challenges specific to that area. Perhaps the most unique was the challenge of specifying kit that could withstand the potentially corrosive environment in which they reside. Michael Nicholson reports back on both installations. With a foundation back in London, Whisky Mist Beirut’s biggest challenge was to live up to the reputation of the brand. The key was to equip the Beirut venue with state-of-the-art technology to ensure it would attract large crowds, similar to the London branches. Similarly, Megabox KINTEX in Seoul had a groundbreaking title to fulfil. This cinema was the first venue in Asia to install Meyer Sound’s EXP cinema system. The idea was to make this venue a reference point, not only for the newly renamed Meyer Sound systems, but for the city of Seoul as well. The stakes were high. Rachael Rogerson reports on these venues.
Nightclubs in Hong Kong often share similar problems when it comes to specifying technology; a lack of floor space and low ceilings. Likuid club was no different, however, this was combined with a desire for the technology to be subtly placed within the venue. The solution was to install a slim profile K-array sound system.
