Corinthia: a new 5-star hotel for London
New arrivals
A new partnership with the Radisson Edwardian Hotels offers British Airways’ business class travellers flying from JFK into London City airport (LCY) a special arrivals package to ease them gently into their day’s work in London.
A chauffeur-driven executive car will take passengers directly from LCY to the Edwardian New Providence Wharf Hotel just 10 minutes away, where a spa, state of the art gym and a delicious breakfast awaits. The hotel’s business centre with free wifi is also at their disposal.
The service is pre-bookable from JFK and gives Club World London City customers the chance to freshen up before heading off to meetings in Canary Wharf or the City. Preferential rates for those wanting to stay overnight at the hotel are also on offer.
BA’s Club World London City business class-only service flies twice daily from London City Airport to New York’s JFK on an Airbus A318, with 32 fully flat seats.
Transatlantic partnering The partnership between BA, Iberia and
American now means that between them the partner airlines are providing a virtual shuttle service on all the routes from Heathrow to major US destinations.
By aligning the timings on their UK-US schedules they’ve effectively closed gaps between some services and eliminated overlaps among others. As an example, flights to JFK now depart hourly between 1pm and 8pm, with a maximum of an hour and a half between morning departures. Travellers to Chicago and Miami also benefit from the schedule spacing.
And BA has started a daily service to San Diego after an 8 year hiatus from that route.

London has a splendid array of 5-star luxury hotels on offer – now a new hotel, the Corinthia, has added to the choices open to those who dislike compromise.
T
he new hotel is on Whitehall Place, SW1, and according to the designers, it is ‘based on grand English homes but with a subtle contemporary interpretation. Oak timbers were used throughout in the joinery giving a warm ambience, combined with leathers, warm limestones and silks. Timber borders line the edge of all guestrooms while polished plasters and dramatic Calacatta marble, individually sourced by GA designs themselves at the quarry.’
There are all the features you would expect from a 5-star luxury hotel, including a ballroom with a private entrance onto Whitehall Place. There is also an interior courtyard, a music room/bar and a variety of meeting rooms for business use. There are two restaurants, The Northall, run by Michelin star winner Garry Hollihead, and the Massimo Restaurant and Oyster Bar, headed by Massimo Riccioli. And there is a full-service luxury spa.
The Corinthia opened in May and is the latest addition to the Corinthia collection founded by the Pisani family from Malta. Existing hotels may be found in Prague, Budapest, St. Petersburg, Malta and Lisbon.
