Hotel Lighting

is sophisticated scene setting control made simple. The cabinet versions of MoodMaker are ideal for hotel use, combining the MoodMaker's easy to use control surface with support electronics. Not only does this speed up the job of installing electrical contractors, it also makes it much easier. MoodMaker too was employed at St Pancras, specifically in the hotel entrance area, where it provides user friendly control of the lighting, that even hotel staff can utilise. Soon Multiload Technology will launch the LEDPowerPlant, its first driver for LEDs. For hotel projects where LED lighting, particularly in coves, is rising in popularity, Multiload Technology once again have the solution to a wide range of challenges; LEDPowerPlant dramatically simplifies wiring, makes remote positioning at long distance possible and also enables the use of true SELV. Deltalight UK recently installed nearly two kilometers of profile lighting systems in the Bella Sky Hotel, Scandinavia’s largest hotel, designed by 3XN. In addition to HELA for bathrooms and endless profiles, Deltalight provided two kilometers of tailor-made Microline 50 profiles. These were used in walls and L-shaped wall/ ceiling combinations throughout all corridors of the entire hotel, creating a unique and powerful atmosphere, unifying design and functionality. Recently, Elektra Lighting had the

opportunity of designing the lighting scheme for the Beau Rivage Hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland. The challenge was working with a historic building and making the modern extension disappear - dealing with old and new, while marrying in a coherent solution. The overall concept for this historic building, dating from 1865, was to create a hierarchical lighting solution, which highlighted the beautiful features of the historic, listed building while playing down the modern glazed intervention with modest, muted effects. Although hierarchical, it also had to be holistic and cohesive, as the listed inner space could be opened up and combined with the outer space to create one large function area. Elektra created a lighting solution that met

the requirements of a modern meeting room space, while respecting the constraints of a listed building. They couldn’t recess lighting into the ceiling, or attach on certain frescoes, so had to work within challenging parameters to mount the lighting in appropriate positions to bounce around the room. The lighting, with the extension itself, is coordinated and cast into concentric semi-random slots; down lights with gobo projections, using the Gobotop projectors and Stuco leaves standard stock pattern gobos from Rosco, create a leafy pattern that gives an outside feel to the inside.
