Te summertime wonders of Nature
Not enough sunshine
Vitamin D is essential for keeping bones and teeth strong, and prevents calcium depositing where it shouldn't (blood vessels, heart and kidneys). The only natural form of Vitamin D comes from the sun, although there are other forms of this vitamin (e.g. oily fish, mushrooms etc), the human body absorbs Vitamin D faster and more efficiently via sun exposure. The body stores Vitamin D in the liver and secretes as necessary for overall well-being, even limited amounts of sun exposure can boost the immune- system, raise energy levels and pre- vent soft bones (rickets) in children. 20 mins everyday in the garden is just what the doctor ordered!
